July Creation Station Blog Hop: Case The Catalog

 

Hello!  Welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop!  We are a team of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world who create a hop for you every first Sunday of the month.  This month our theme is "Case the Catalog".  Each team member will pick a project from the catalog and CASE (copy and share everything) it--copying the layout, colors, technique or the entire card, and adding his or her own touches as he or she creates.  Be sure to click on the "Next" button at the end of each hop post, so you can hop around and see all the projects and ideas we have for you today.  We hope you'll be inspired to use what you have in your own stash to recreate a favorite card from the catalog.

My two projects are Cased from the lower right-hand card on page 40 of the new Annual Catalog.  I loved the diagonal stamping on this card.  I was also inspired by the Metallic Magic pages on pages 110-111 in the catalog.  So, I added a little metallic bling to both my cards.  Instead of stamping the images on both cards as was done on the inspiration card, I stamped and die cut my images and arranged them diagonally on the top Basic White layer. 

For this birthday wishes card, I created the background with a piece of gold metallic designer series paper from the Nature's Sweetness Specialty pack (#162616).  This was adhered to a Lost Lagoon card base.  The die cuts were made with the Stippled Roses Dies (#162666) using Pretty Peacock and Calypso coral card stock and Gold Foil.  The greeting is from the Stippled Roses stamp set (#162657).  It was stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder.  The Lost Lagoon and Basic White layers were die cut using the Deckled Rectangles dies (#159173). Brushed Brass Butterflies (#158136) were added for more metallic magic.

The background on this "You're the Best" card was created with silver foil and the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder (#162189). The images were stamped and die cut using the Translucent Florals stamp set (#162243) and dies (#162252).  I used Boho Blue, Soft Sea Foam and Fresh Freesia for my ink and card stock colors.  The greeting was stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Silver Foil die cuts centered with Basic Rhinestone Jewels create additional metallic magic and bling on this card.

Creation Station March Hop: Sweet Delights and Sugared Dreams

 

Welcome to the Creation Station March, 2024 Blog Hop.  Our theme this month is Sweet Delights and Sugared Dreams.  What a treat (pun intended)!

This month we are creating with all things sweet:  treats, drinks, sweet and cute animals and characters.  There will be lots of variety so make sure you click on the "Next" link at the end of each blog post to see each designer's interpretation 

of this theme.

Being a baker and candy maker, I love to gift "just because" homemade treats.  Stampin' Up!'s 2023-2025 In Color Treat Bags (#161752) are perfect for a little sweet treat gift.  I used the Lovely & Sweet Bundle (#162627) and the Notes of Nature Bundle (#162640) from Nature's Sweetness Suite to decorate these bags. The plants in the Lovely & Sweet stamp set are ones from which my favorite sweet baking ingredients come:  chocolate, vanilla and almonds. Used together the two stamp and die sets are great for layering and creating a focal point for the treat bags. 

The theobroma cacao plant is one from which lots of chocolate products are made.  The plant was stamped in Pebbled Path on white and colored with Granny Apple Green, Pecan Pie and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends.  It was die cut and layered over circle die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (#159183)and stamped with a few images from both stamp sets in Gray Granite ink.  The greeting was stamped in  Pebbled Path and die cut with a label die from the Lovely & Sweet dies.  The flag was made using Pebbled Path card stock and embossed using the Stripes & Splatters 3D embossing folders (#157980).  It was wrapped with a piece of Natural Wavy Trim (#161517).  I used a Pebbled Path treat bag for this one.  A piece of Parakeet Party metallic woven ribbon (#159196) closes the bag.  A few Pebbled Path dots (2023-2025 In Color Dots, #161620) finish the bag decoration.

The vanilla orchid (vanilla planifolia) is featured on a Wild Wheat treat bag, tied closed with pieces of Wild Wheat jute trim (2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim, #161637) and gold Simply Elegant Trim (#155766). The plant was stamped in Pebbled Path and colored with Lemon Lolly, Soft Sea Foam and Wild Wheat Stampin' Blends, then die cut.  It is layered over a basic white rectangle die cut using the Nested Essentials dies (#161597).  The rectangle was stamped with a splatter and small graph designs in Pebbled Path and Lemon Lolly.  The greeting from Gorgeously Made stamp set (#161193) was stamped in Pebble Path.  A leaf sprig die cut in Soft Sea Foam is also adhered to the rectangle under the vanilla orchid.  The rectangle is layered over two die cut Wild Wheat vines. Wild Wheat dots finish the bag design.

The prunus dulcis is species of almond tree.  I love almonds--especially with chocolate!  Because the flowers on the tree are pale pink with darker centers, I used the Moody Mauve treat bag for this one and layered it with a rectangle of Moody Mauve card stock embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder (#156505).  The plant was stamped in Pebbled Path, colored with Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam, Gray Granite, Bubble Bath and Moody Mauve Stampin' Blends and die cut.  It is layered over a circle die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies and stamped with a collage of images stamped in Gray Granite.  The greeting is stamped in Pebbled Path and die cut using the label die.  The treat bag is closed with pieces of Moody Mauve Jute Twine and Sweet Sorbet woven metallic ribbon (#159200) tied in a bow on the front of the bag.  Moody Mauve dots complete the design.

Creation Station November Hop: Containers & Vases

 

Welcome to the November Creation Station Blog Hop.  This month our theme is vases and containers--any vessel we can fill with something!  This is a fun one and I can't wait to see what the other members of the team have filled for us!  To make sure you see all of the projects, click on the "Next" link at the end of each blog post. 

For my projects today I am using the products in the Earthen Elegance Suite (#161518), which includes the Earthen Textures Bundle (#161514, stamp set and dies), the Earthen Elegance designer series paper (#161503) and the Natural Wavy Trim (#161517).   I have always loved ceramics, pottery and natural elements, so this suite was perfect for creating my filled vessels.

When I see a a display of pottery in a store or at an arts and craft fair, I automatically head over to them!  That is what inspired this card.  The small pot in the stamp set was die cut multiple times out of a ceramic pattern from the designer series paper. I added some "ears" to a few of the pots and just a floral sprig and some greenery to one pot (Calypso Coral stamped and Wild Wheat).  The greeting was stamped in Pecan Pie and die cut using the label die from the Gorgeously Made die set (#161202).  The background is Old Olive card stock embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder (#161600).  A bow of Wild Wheat Jute (from the In Color jute trim pack, #161637), a layer of Pecan Pie card stock and a Very Vanilla Thick card base complete this card.

This card was created with two of the long thin pots die cut in two different patterns of designer series paper and a stamped and die cut short pot.  The Pretty Peacock ombre pot was shortened, topped with "pottery ears" and a pattern both die cut out of Gray Granite card stock.  The taller pot was trimmed with Gray Granite Baker's Twine (from the Essentials pack, #155475).  The two smaller pots are filled with plants die cut out of Moody Mauve and Pebbled Path card stock and a Pretty Peacock piece of designer series paper.  The background is a piece of the same ombre patterned designer series paper that was used for the middle pot.  The greeting was stamped in Pretty Peacock on Very Vanilla card stock and die cut using a Tailor Made Tags die (#155563).  A layer of Gray Granite card stock and a Very Vanilla Thick card base complete the card. 

This Basic White note card was layered with a piece of Copper Clay card stock and a beautiful ceramic pattern from the designer series paper.  The short pot was die cut out of Pretty Peacock card stock and embossed with the scalloped die in the Earthen Textures die set.  It was toped with Copper Clay "ears" and trimmed with the natural wavy ribbon.  The plants are Crushed Curry (stamped), Pretty Peacock and Early Espresso. The greeting was stamped in Copper Clay on Basic White and fussy cut.

November Creation Station Blog Hop--Fancy Folds

 

Hello, and welcome to the Creation Station November Blog Hop!  This group of stampers from all over the world are sharing Fun & Fancy Folds projects to inspire you to add that little something, something to make your holiday cards extra special.  Be sure and click on the "Next" link at the end of each post so you can see each designer's project.  You'll be glad you did!

My projects for today's hop are Gable Fold cards.  The inspiration for my projects was my late sister-in-law, Mary Ann.  She was the biggest fan of my cards and had them displayed all over her apartment at her assisted living home in Overland Park, Kansas.  I sent her a card at least every month--whenever I made a card and thought "Mary Ann would love this one", I sent it to her.  So, needless to say, the Christmas cards had to be extra special and the Gable Fold Christmas cards were her favorites.

My candy cane card was created using the Sweetest Christmas suite of products, including the Sweet Candy stamp set and die bundle (#161052), Christmas Banner dies (#159576); Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins (#159964), and the Sweetest Christmas designer series paper (#159559).  I also used some Sweet Sorbet metallic woven ribbon (#159200) and a Flat Jingle Bell Trinket (#159980).  The colors are from the designer series paper:  Sweet Sorbet, Real Red and Garden Green, plus Evening Evergreen and Mint Macaron.

What makes these Gable Folds extra fun for the holidays is the way they open up and stand on their own for display!  They fold closed to a standard card size of 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" and definitely require extra postage!

The cane card just has a bit of glitz with the metallic ribbon, but I went all out with the glimmer and shine in this holly card! For this card I used the Boughs of Holly Suite of products:  the Leaves of Holly stamp set and dies bundle (#159608), and the Boughs of Holly designer series paper (#159600).  I added some gold Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins and Real Red glimmer paper (#159578) from the Sweetest Christmas Suite; and, some Gold & Vanilla satin edged ribbon (#159555) and Evening Evergreen Glimmer Paper (#159537) from the Lights Aglow suite.  I used colors from the designer series paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, and Evening Evergreen plus Old Olive and Basic White.

Hidden on the back panel of each card is a decorated piece of Basic White card stock layered over designer series paper to use for a personal note to the recipient of the card.

If you have never made a Gable Fold card, here are the basics:

Gable Card

Card base:  5-1/2” x 12”, scored at 2”, 4”, 8” and 10”

Use paper trimmer to cut from the first  score line to the last score line, 1-1/2” from  top and and bottom of card.  Fold as shown.

Card stock layers:  2 @1-7/8” X 5-3/8”; 2 @ 2-3/8” X 1-7/8”; 4 @ 1-7/8” x 1-3/8”; 2 @ 3-7/8” X 1-3/8”; 1 @ 3-7/8” X 2-3/8”

DSP layers: 2 @ 1-3/4” X 5-1/4”; 2 @ 2-1/4” X 1-3/4”; 4 @ 1-3/4” X 1-1/4”; 

2 @ 3-3/4” X 1-1/4”; 1 @ 3-3/4” x 2-1/4”

Basic White card stock for written greeting on back of last section: 1 @ 5-3/8” x 1-7/8”

I hope you'll try making a Gable Fold card soon!  They are really fun and surprisingly easy to make--just a bit time consuming.
