Creation Station May Hop--Scraps!

Hello, and welcome to the Creation Station May Hop!

We are cleaning out our scraps and little bits and bobs and creating with our leftovers. Have some fun and see what hidden gems we found in our scrap bins. I know you have one, too, so be inspired to clean out yours and make some projects.  To see all of the design team's scrappy designs, be sure and hit the "Next Up" link at the end of each blog post.

Yes, these cards were all made with bits and pieces out of a couple of scrap boxes in which I toss the "good" stuff leftover from my creative endeavors and off cuts from card stock.  The Basic Black and Basic White Thick card bases are new.  The greeting tag on the sunflower card I also made new; however, the bit of Early Espresso faux suede trim was in one of my scrap boxes.  I was surprised by the number and variety of background pieces I had piled up in one box, so I picked three that went with other pieces in the boxes.  Needless to say, I still have a lot of stuff left in the boxes--too good to toss!  Most of the scrap pieces I have were created with retired stamps, dies and other retired products, but you may recognize some of the bits from current products and, since these are mostly scraps, I didn't try to figure out what stamp sets, dies or other products these came from--current or retired.

This is my favorite of the three.  When I create a floral/leaf bouquet, I die cut lots of pieces and change my mind about the colors I want to use--so I have lots of these in my box.  The frame piece was die cut with one side narrower than the other, so I hid that with the long Misty Moonlight die cut.  I had three different colored little birds like this one in my box--I kept changing my mind on which one I would use as I found different leaf and flower die cuts, then finally settled on green and blue like the watercolor background.  The background is one of a number of the watercolor backgrounds I have left over from experimenting with ink combinations on a clear block, spritzing with water and stamping it on watercolor paper.  That Mossy Meadow linen twine bow was tied like that in my scrap box. I should go through this stuff more often!!!

Look at this background!  I had two pieces in my box made with a newsprint designer series paper design and an embossing folder.  It looks like I added Versamark ink to the inside of the folder, put the paper through the embossing machine and then heat embossed with black Stampin' Emboss powder.  The greeting was in the box and was stamped with Rococo Rose ink, so I used an off cut of Rococo Rose card stock to frame it. I colored the two vellum butterflies from my scrap box with the retired dark Rococo Rose Stampin' Blend marker and added retired Noble Peacock rhinestone jewels to make them stand out from that wonderful background.

I love this little piece of sunflowers stamped on Shimmery White card stock background I found.  I had to use it!  It fit perfectly on a 3" x 3" note card base. I cut down the scrap piece of Cajun Craze card stock to make the note card and then used the little leftover strip on the card.

Since I have been busy with a complete clear out of my stamping space, I thought I would toss everything in my scrap boxes after I made my projects for this hop.  I just cannot do it now!  One, the boxes are full of wonderful backgrounds made with different techniques; and Two, these cards were so much fun to put together. I am going to challenge myself to make at least one scrap card a week now.  I challenge you to do the same.  Rediscover those hidden treasures!

Let's head over to Mikaela's blog now and see what treasures she found among her scraps.

Happy May 1st!
